Social Media and the negativity

It has been awhile since I have had time to blog. I have been consumed with my fitness goals and sharing them on social media. Do you find yourself doing things just for the sake of posting them to social media? Are you worried about what others are going to think of what you have posted?

Well, in this day in age people are on their electronic devices more than they are spending interacting with actual people so it's not surprising that Instagram and Facebook are as popular as they are. It's like you are an alien if you don't have at least one of those accounts.

I can remember a time when if you wanted to share an accomplishment then you called a person on the phone or sent them pictures through the mail and then you would have to wait for their response. That is not longer the case. Now you have instant gratification and that might be part of the problem. If you post something and do not get instant likes and comments then it can give you negative thoughts about what you have done.

That shouldn't be our thoughts. We shouldn't care what other people think but unfortunately, that's hardly the case. Some people will use that against you too. The age of internet bullying has just run ramped. We have young people committing suicide because of negative things said on social media.

People think that because of the freedom of speech that they can judge and be harsh if they want. I personally think that the old saying " If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all!" should be a mantra for all social media platforms. You can just continue to scroll without having to comment. It is not a requirement to comment on all posts, especially if they haven't asked for comments.

Is it so important to put your two cents on things that don not concern you? Why is it that we all can't just lift each other up? The world would be such a better place if we didn't pick apart our friends and neighbors.
